Savings

Add

To add a short-term saving:

• Click on "Budget > Items > Savings" to open the "Savings" slider
• Click on the "Add" button to display the "New Saving" dialog box
• Enter a "Name"
• Select and set up the type of saving
  • "A percent of a predictable income":
    • Enter the "Percent" of the income deposits to be added to the saving ledger
    • Select the "Of income"
    • Select the "Start on or after" date
    • Select the saving's lifespan:
      • "No end date", or
      • "Stop on" and the end date
    • To cap the saving's balance, enter a "Set aside limit" amount
  • "A fixed amount":
    • Enter the "Fixed amount"
    • Select the "Set aside on" option
    • Select the "Start on or after" date
    • Select the saving's lifespan:
      • "No end date",
      • "Occurs" and the number of times the saving is to be set aside, or
      • "Stop on" and the end date
    • To cap the saving's balance, enter a "Set aside limit" amount
  • "Unscheduled" (there are no further selections or entries)

• If the new saving is not to be added to the budget now, uncheck "Include in Budget." The saving can be added to the Budget at any time by:
  • editing the saving and checking "Include in Budget," or
  • double-clicking on the saving in the "Sinking Funds" slider
• Click on the "OK" button
